Photosensitization

This is the diagnosis. The dr. looked at my brown splotch on the side of my left knee. I told him that it just showed up out of the blue while I was on vacation last month. He said "let me ask you this..did you have anything to drink or eat with lemon or lime juice?" Now, I thought that was a funny question, because if he knew me, he would know that I like to drink Bloody Mary's with Lime. So I laughed and said "Of course!" He said "Why of course?" I said " Well, I was on vacation & had many Bloody Mary's with lime" So then he says that I must have spilled or wiped the lime juice on my leg while I was sitting out in the sun and the reaction of the lime and the sun caused this mark on my leg. Have you ever heard of anything like this before??! I haven't. But I was so very, very relieved. He gave me some cream to put on my leg and said that as my tan fades, so will this splotch! What a relief !! Of course, I was thinking the worst, especially since it was such an odd shape.

So the moral to the story, friends is this: Don't spill lemon or lime juice on your skin and sit in the sun!! :)
