Weekend Movie Review

1) 1408 with John Cusack & Samuel L. Jackson...I love JC, every since Say Anything! Can't wait to see his new one "Martian Child"~~looks like a tear jeaker. 1408 was good! But hey it's Stephen King..how could it not be good! A+

2) Transformers: I am officially acknowledging the fact that I was meant to be a mom of a boy! I loved this movie~ It was really, really cool! A+

3) The Reef: A cheap take off of Nemo & Shark's Tale...Jake liked it...I didn't..actually dozed off a bit! C

4) Knocked Up~~a little bit more raunchy then I thought it would be~~lots of college boy humor. Lots of cursing and crude language..but cute story all the same. A

Today's L/O

Tiger Cub Halloween Party & A Crazy Faced Pumpkin

Jake was less then pleased when I kept asking for a picture at the party. Nice Face! ;)

Mini album of Kinder Art & Stuff

So many papers and no where to put them. I scanned some of Jake's artwork and misc papers that I saved from Kindergarten and made this little album. I'm planning on doing one for pre-k & am collecting stuff to complete a 1st grade one as well. Then I can throw away all those bits & pieces without getting in trouble! :)

A Deer Down My Street

OMG!! Last night around 10:30, a huge deer was walking down my street. Now, I don't live in a rural area. We don't have woods in our back yards. Yes, we live in a suburban area but our backyards back up to other people's backyards. Yes, we see bunnies and chipmunks all the time, but a DEER!!! OMG! The deer was in the middle of the street, just standing there. I ran inside to get Tom and the deer was somewhere across the street. Tom was like "SO WHAT!" I was in awe! It was pretty dark but after a couple of minutes we saw the deer take off down the street, clippity, clapping away! It was the coolest thing ever!! I hope he found his way home and didn't get hit by a car! I wish I was able to get it on film.

It has finally cooled down...can't wait to get my boy in some of the cool fall/winter clothes that I have purchased this year...

How do you teach when you have an accent?

Each week Jake has a spelling test. We go over the words everyday after school. I realized yesterday as I was reading the words to him, that my North Jersey accent doesn't really help him rhyme words correctly.

Example..I do not pronounce dog and log the same way. I also do not pronounce had and bad the same way. Jake actually pointed out that I said 'bad' incorrectly. Maybe to him it's incorrect, but it sounds perfectly okay to me! :)

Guilty Pleasure

I'm sure I have alot of guilty pleasures but today, I realized a new one! TARGET!! After showering, I took a drive to my local Target..it was a plan, not a spur of the moment thing. I was going to get Jake a Nintendo DS. When I pulled into the parking lot, I realized I had a huge smile on my face. As I was walking to the store with my cart, I actually felt giddy! I *heart* Target! What a fabulous place! I walked around that store for an hour and 1/2..just putting anything I wanted in the cart. Well, not everything I wanted! But things I really didn't need, but just didn't want to pass up! The list was a long one..but I felt very satisifed after I left the store....don't even ask how much I spent...not even gonna think about it til the bill comes in! :)

HOT, HOT, HOT

Well, from the title, you might be thinking this entry will be about our unseasonablly warm weather...but alas, you would be wrong....

I was never a fan of Dancing with the Stars...I know it's hard to believe from my embarrassing list of Reality TV Shows that I watch, but for some reason, this show never did appeal to me. I thought it was just another show with some hasbeen celebrities who were looking for 15 more minutes of fame. That was until this season....I tuned in just to see one of my favorite All My Children heartthrobs, Cameron Mathison , aka Ryan Lavery. WOW, does he look good in those tight black dance pants! Mama Mia is all I can say! He really can't dance all that great, he's a bit stiff, but he is still HOT, HOT,HOT!!!

Getting Involved~~

I often wonder why people have children. Why do they have children if they are not going to be involved with their children's lives? Why do they have children if their own needs are always put before their children's needs? What could possibly be more important then your children??!

Last night, there was a special viewing of a movie that is going to be shown at my son's CCD class on Wed. The video contained information about inappropriate touching, bullying, safe adults, etc. It was a 12 minute video~~12 MINUTES...Moose and I were there along with 4 other parents! FOUR~!!! SEVEN all together including the moderator. The moderator sent out 70 letters to the new CCD parents...70!!! And only 5 children's parents went. Very, very sad! The moderator even mentioned how heart breaking it was that the turnout was so little. She also mentioned how she is going to hear backlash from some of the parents who didn't bother to show up to view this video when their precious children come home and start asking questions. Hmmm, maybe these parents should have spent the 30 mintues at the viewing where all their questions would have been answered.

I really feel badly for teachers/principals/leaders of different events for our children. If parents aren't going to be involved in their child(ren)'s lives, who will be!>>??!!

Believe me, Moose & I would have rather been on the couch in our jammies then in that library lastnight but we did it for our son! We did it because we care about what other people will be teaching our son!

Okay, that is my sermon for the week...off my soapbox! :)
