Leap Year Day Dance

Jake's school had a Leap Year dance today. It was so adorable. Let me start by saying that we had to go shopping last night for new clothes to wear to the dance. New shirt, new jeans and new sneakers because his old sneakers just would not do. It was quite funny.

After school, Jake got dressed in his new clothes, brushed his teeth, gelled his hair, put on cologne and off to the dance we went.

The kids were just too cute! Some girls had on really dressy dresses and some boys even had on ties! and they actually danced. Especially to the HSM & Hannah Montana songs.

Here are some pics of my baby at his very first dance...:)

Awesome Classes

On Saturday, I took 3 awesome classes. Learned alot and made some really neat projects.

First is a altered cigar box using Rusty Pickle supplies... Lance The Pickle Man taught us this class. Very cool!!

Next are pictures of a 3 tiered wall canvas that Jen Starr taught us. Super cool! And the colors match my living room perfectly!!

Third was a class given by Robin from Ranger but I do not have pictures...lots of alcohol inks/distress inks/perfect pearls and a cool bandana techinique! I had thought that I wouldn't like this class because I had never used most of these products before...but guess what?! I really loved it. Went to Michael's today with my 50% off coupon and bought some of Tim Holtz's inks and the cool handled tool and pads to use the inks with...I'm SOLD!! ;)

Proud Mommy Moment

I had a nice, proud Mommy moment this past Wed. One of the CCD teachers and a friend from Jake's school stopped me in the hall and said that she just had to stop me to tell me that the week before, at Ash Wed mass, she was so very touched by what Jake did. At Ash Wed mass, Jake sat with his Ccd class and I was across the aisle where the parents were sitting. During the sign of the peace (for non-Catholics: There is a part of the mass where we offer each other the sign of peace, you shake hands with the persons next to/around you and say "Peace Be With You.") Jake left his aisle and came over to me and gave me a hug and a kiss. This is what we do at Sunday Mass so I didn't think too much of it. Susan (ccd teacher) said that she was so touched and thought it was just the sweetest thing seeing Jake do that. That no other child in church even glanced their parents way and it just touched her so much that she had to mention what a good sweet boy that I have and how proud I should be. Well, of course I started to tear up and thanked her so much for her kind words. Jake really is a sweet, sweet kid! I love him so! :)

Please Pray~~

I don't like asking for prayers, especially for other people, but if any of my blog readers could just take a second and pray for my friend Karri & her daughter Caroline. Caroline has a rare leukemia and isn't doing very well. She was waiting to get her 3rd bone marrow transplant and has tested positive for RSV. Children with surpressed immune systems have a extremely hard time fighting RSV...so please keep the Harmon family in your thoughts...Thank you! :)

Please visit her Caringbridge site if you have a chance.

Book Fair 2008

This past week I volunteered at the school book fair. It's always fun to help the kids pick out books. I was pleasantly surprised to see 2 books by my favorite author when I was a young girl. Judy Blume. It's amazing that her books are still around. I know I loved them.

I always feel so badly for the kids that don't have any money to get books. Why do parents not give them money?? It's not like they are buying candy bars. They are buying books!! I'll never understand it. :( And no, none of these kids come from underprivledged families where they couldn't spare $4-$5 for a book. Not when these kids are wearing the latest fashions, wearing Uggs and carrying Coach bags~~

Three favorite books among the preteen set: Eggs, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Coke or Pepsi. I almost got run over by some 10-11 year olds trying to get to these books before they were all gone! :)
