This year's Halloween costume....Not my choice at all...I wanted him to be Indiana Jones...my days of picking out his costume and apparently his clothes are long gone....

Sweater Vests are Dorky...
Jake got his school pictures taken last week and I had a nice outfit for him to wear. Blue/white/beige buttondown shirt, khaki pants and yes, a sweater vest. Jake told me that he wasn't wearing a sweater vest...Sweater vests are dorky!! I guess they are not cool with the under 8 crowd...and apparently they aren't all that cool with the over 40 crowd as Tom also made a face while listening to this sweater vest discussion. On picture day, Jake reluctantly put on the sweater vest, ONLY if he could take it off right after the pictures were taken...we made that compromise. His teacher told him how handsome he looked, to that he said "Yeah, if I didn't have on this dorky sweater vest!" UGH!! and btw, he didn't look dorky at all...he looked quite handsome, for sure! :)

Martha made it look so easy....
I saw in a magazine, Martha's glittered pumpkins. I bought all the stuff and glittered up some pumpkins. Mine look no where near as nice as Martha's...but who wants to be like Martha anyway.....:)
They look really pretty when the sun shines on them...

First Parent/Teacher Conference
Why do I get all nervous before going to these dang things??? I feel like a kid all over again, having to talk to the teacher....Jake's teacher is very nice. She's probably around my age and seems like she'd be fun to hang out with.
Jake is doing well in school, but he is easily distracted (knew this) and he doesn't seem to work well in partners (didn't know this but it's not surprising). In other words, when they are broken up into two person groups, instead of working along side his partner, he finishes his work so it is just done and over. He needs to learn how to "Work Well With Others!" LOL!! Oh, and she said that he is very fidgety. NO SHIT!! But his distraction and his fidgetyness (is that a word??) doesn't interfere with his learning or getting his work done. She says he is very smart, he's a good boy and seems to be older then he actually is. I told her, he has always been an old soul!
When I came home, Jake was sitting on the couch and looked like "UTOH!!" I just told him what his teacher said about not working well in teams and he said that they always go too slow!! That's my fidgety, distracted son! He wants to just get it done and over with. I have to say, this is probably my fault. I am always hurrying him up, trying to keep him on task and just get him to GET ER DONE!! I guess, I have to try and take it easy, too...My type A personality is rubbing off on Jake...:)

Roller Skating, Battleships and Rodanthe...
Busy day today, we went to a roller skating party. Jake's 1st time on skates. He did pretty well considering...he fell, oh, he fell..he fell Alot!! But he didn't give up and by the end of the party he was skating away from the wall, in the middle with Sabrina...he still kept falling but he kept getting up and that's really all that mattered. It was fun and we definitely will go back. Maybe we will try ice skating next time...
Tonight, the boys are sleeping over on The Battleship New Jersey with the scouts. Seems like it is going to be really cool. They get to ride a flight simulator and sleep in bunks and tour the battleship. I can't wait to hear all about it tomorrow.
